I nominate Birth To Three ! They have a simple, but extremely important mission of strengthening families through parent education and support. They have been providing outstanding services to families for 33 years. The program was founded locally, has served thousands of local families, and now is being offered in many other countries. Their goal is that every child will be raised by nurturing, skilled parents.

Their website is birthto3.org

Although they may have other ideas, they may benefit from you services providing displays for their many presentations to other communities who are implementing Birth to Three programs.

I nominate NestStep Recycling! I believe it to be quite amazing that this single non-profit business has kept over 2 million pounds of electronic waste out of the Earth! Most places dont recycle the kinds of electronics that NextStep does. Also, offering job training, computer training, technology grants, and simply helping people while helping the Earth. I believe they would benefit greatly for something like this!

I nominate Willamette Farm & Food Coalition www.lanefood.org). Their mission is to develop a secure and sustainable local food system in Lane County by connecting farmers with consumers, institutions, and businesses. They recently set a bold goal to increase local food purchases to 10% of all food purchases in Lane County (currently it is less than 5%). To accomplish this, they are working on developing marketing materials to increase awareness of the impact of local food including labeling for grocery stores and local food vendors to create consistent, recognizable labeling of food grown in Lane County among many other projects. This project and others could benefit greatly from your expertise and high quality work.

I nominate NestStep Recycling for the car wrap. It's amazing that this single non-profit business has kept over 2 million pounds of electronic waste out of our waste streams by dismantling unusable electronics or testing, rebuilding and reselling or donating usable equipment.

I nominate Next Step Recycling. Our community is increasingly blessed to have Next Step leading the way in re-use of electronics of all types and especially their ePower program. Next Step's Community—gifting computers to children in Lane County's schools who don't have one in their home currently.

Thank you!

I would love to nominate WVSFA, Willamette Valley Sustainable Foods Alliance. What a fab group of people that volunteer their time to promote health, environmental, local sustainability, abundance, within this wonderful part of the world that we are so blessed to live in, through the medium of all those local businesses and farmers.
Posted @ Wednesday, November 09, 2011 12:48 PM by Toby Gamberoni
The reason I like to nominate NextStep Recycling for this award is: because most of our customers feel great in having a place that not only recycles most of their electronics (keeping harmful waist out of our land fields), but also provides training for people that are low income; who are looking for ways to learn how to improve their recycling habits, learn how to build computers and others learn how to use them. NextStep has different programs that help people also to get a free desktop computer after so many hours of Volunteer service. It is a great Non-profit organization that deserves the recognition in our community.

I nominate Greenhill Humane Society. They are a great resource to neglected and homeless animals. My brother's, Lola, came from there! I am sure they could use all of Imagine's services.
Posted @ Wednesday, November 09, 2011 2:07 PM by Julie Smith
I would like to nominate The Relief Nursery. The work they do gives families at risk the tools to break the cycle of abuse, and children the opportunity thrive in a warm and welcoming environment. To save even one child from abuse is honorable. The Relief Nursery has helped hundreds in our own community, and continues doing so every day. I applaud them for their incredible work.

Hi,
I am kind of surprised that nobody has nominated Shelter Care. I too care about recycling and animals but these people are helping homeless families. Here is something from their website;
"We serve families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and adults who have a mental illness or a brain injury. We offer a variety of housing support services for the homeless or those facing homelessness with a committed focus on the community's most vulnerable individuals dealing with psychiatric disabiities, an acquired brain injury and homeless families"

I would like to nominate NextStep Recycling!

I nominate the Emerald Valley Boys and Girls Club. They provide valuable services for many families. They are in urgent need. They have had to suspend services until January while they attempt to raise funds for a matching grant.

They provide care for over 300 local families. Let's help!
Posted @ Wednesday, November 09, 2011 4:00 PM by Victoria Whitman
I nominate NextStep. I am particularly excited about the ePOC – ePower Our Community Project whereby NextStep is gifting computers to children in Lane County's schools who don't have one in their home currently. They don't just give them computers ... They teach them how to use them for their school work and for their interests. We are struggling with financing our schools and empowering our kids and it is a shame that kids who are from poor families can't have the same advantages in school. Next Step is making a difference right here in Lane County by stepping up to the plate where other resources have failed.

I'd like to nominate Show Mercy International located in Albany, Oregon. www.showmercy.org They are a public charitable nonprofit organization doing work with the underserved population of orphans in Uganda. I realize this is an inernational focus, but the work they are doing to improve the lives of so many children (108 in the Hope Childre's Home) is amazing. Lives are literally being changed and given a hope for the future. Show Mercy has a wonderful impact in local schools and churches by highlighting what volunteering can do in the local community and abroad. Mike & Lori Salley are the co-founders of Show Mercy and would really appreciate an infusion of professional visual aids! Thank you for your consideration.

I would like to nominate The Center for Community Counseling, a mental health center providing counseling to people who have no other means of getting support.Professional counselors donate their time to help those in need. The Center would benefit from marketing materials for events and signage. More people need to know about their parenting and anger management classes. The Center has had a definite impact on hundreds of lives over the 30+ years it has been in existence. Your consideration is appreciated.

Thank you!

I nominate Ridgeline Montessori. Ridgeline Montessori Public Charter School could really use a sign with movable sponsor "stickers" to add some sparkle to their capital campaign, Ridgeline Rising. This K-8 public school suffered a devastating fire in 2009 and has been slowly recovering. The school is currently raising funds that will help them buy the Eugene Christian School building on West Amazon in Eugene. Buying the building will allow the school the stability it needs to expand to their pre-fire enrollment and to offer a FREE, high-quality Montessori education to about 50 more students each year.

Posted @ Wednesday, November 09, 2011 8:18 PM by Amy
I nominate Homeward Bound, the no-kill shelter in McMinnville and the only one I am aware of in Yamhill County. They have lots of cats and kittens, and at this point, only a few dogs. They are run on a shoestring and their donations have gone to the animals and support services like water and electric (for heat). They don't have extra for marketing to increase their visibility which would increase donations and help promote the cats and dogs to get adopted sooner, thus allowing space for new animals.
Posted @ Wednesday, November 09, 2011 9:13 PM by Denise
I would like to nominate NextStep Recycling because they go beyond the realm of just recycling to help our community. Their ePOC program provides computers to our low-income families and families with a child who has a disability. Even their volunteer program helps the community by providing experience and job skills to people who do not have them and want to get back into the working world. I feel that they are a fabulous organization who needs recognition for all of the things they do.
Posted @ Thursday, November 10, 2011 2:06 PM by Virginia Dare
I nominate the Pearl Buck Center. They provide outstanding support and services for people in need. The community would benefit greatly if they won free advertising to keep them going.
Posted @ Thursday, November 10, 2011 3:10 PM by Kelly Crooks
I nominate Pearl Buck Center. They are enriching the lives of those affected by disabilities in our community to reach their full potential. PBC's biggest need at this time is help with a new roof.
Posted @ Thursday, November 10, 2011 6:18 PM by Ruth Harris
I would like to nominate the Willamette Valley Sustainable Foods Alliance for one of the $300 worth of graphics prizes. The WVSFA is a local non profit whose mission is to establish recognition of the Willamette Valley as a premiere source of natural foods through shared values, relationships, education and sustainable business practices. I like this organization because it's work makes a difference in so many important areas - local economy, educating consumers, sustainable business practices, clean foods for our bodies and better agricultural practices for the earth, fostering relationships between local business people and helping them be successful. The organization is still fairly young but it has been developing and growing a lot over the past few years and a prize like this would help support continued growth for the organization and it's member businesses. Their website iswww.wvsfalliance.org, thank you!
Posted @ Thursday, November 10, 2011 6:44 PM by Kristie
I nominate Pearl Buck Center. They help those with disabilities - folks who need folks like us to help them make the most of their lives. PBC has programs and opportunities for all ages. Our community is a far better place because of the work of PBC.

I'd like to nominate a brand-new local charity 5k/10k that will take place next June 16 in Salem. Run for Compassion Salem is raising money for Compassion International's Child Survival Program www.rescuebabiesnow.org). This awesome program helps save the lives of babies and mothers in poverty utilizing local churches to assist mothers of at-risk infants and toddlers in several countries around the world, including Haiti, Kenya, Ecuador and many others.

As a mother of a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old, this program blesses my mother's heart like no other.

My husband and I are race directors of this inaugural run and could SO use some awesome signage! We'd love banners, brochures, flyers, etc. What an awesome contest!

I nominate The OSU Extension Lane County Master Gardener program. Since 1976 Master Gardener volunteers have been reaching out to Lane County residents, farms and businesses with research-based information to help people grow food locally and sustainably. Since 2010 Master Gardeners through the OSU Extension Farms and Garden program have volunteered over 2000 volunteer hours, reached over 14200 residents of Lane county and partnered with organizations such as the Grassroots Garden, Transition Garden Project, Huerto de la Familia, EWEB, LCC, the School Garden Project, Healing Harvest and others to support, educate and share the knowledge and skills to help Lane county residents live healthy and productive lives. Helping people learn to grow food locally and sustainably is a primary goal. As an all volunteer organization, Master Gardeners must raise funds to help support the continued existence of the Lane Extension Farms and Garden program and all the groups it partners with in the county. Finding ways to let county residents know Master Gardener’s and the Farms and Gardens program are here and want to help them is an ongoing mission and urgent need.

I nominate Centro LatinoAmericano, a local nonprofit that helps Latino families to integrate in our community
Posted @ Friday, November 11, 2011 1:11 PM by Marcela Mendoza
Centro LatinoAmericano would highly benefit from receiving marketing materials. The agency aids Latino families by providing resources that will allow them to become self-sufficient and empowered so that they are able to be proactive in their community.

StoveTeam International is making a difference worldwide by preventing deforestation, respiratory disease, and burns associated with open-fire cooking. By helping establish locally-owned fuel-efficient stove factories StoveTeam has developed a sustainable model that really works to solve this issue that affects 3 billion people in the world. StoveTeam could really benefit from materials that would help spread local and regional awareness about this issue!

I nominate Center Enterprises, Inc. They go above and beyond in supporting Adults with Developmental Disabilities in areas such as employment, community integration and teaching life skills to overcome adversity.
Posted @ Monday, November 14, 2011 8:28 PM by Alex Rodriguez
Center Enterprises, Inc. have been supporting Adult DD Services for over 30 years, but I feel that they don't have enough exposure. To not only be nominated but to win as well would definitely be a plus, new building signage, informational displays and having banners up will help.
Posted @ Monday, November 14, 2011 8:44 PM by A.Rodriguez
I nominate Pearl Buck Center for all the admirable work they do for people with disabilities, providing meaningful life experiences and even employment for numerous individuals who would not otherwise be able to find work. There is also a fine preschool for children of parents with cognitive limitations.
Posted @ Monday, November 14, 2011 9:31 PM by Flo Bettles
I nominate the Master Gardener program of Lane County, an arm of The OSU Extension Service. In last year's election we lost funding through Lane County and now we are totally self-funded. The classes and services we provide benefit not only home gardeners, but community gardens, commercial growers and others as well.

I am a member of Master Gardeners and what I love about the organization is that it is staffed by volunteers, a committed group of knowledgable gardeners.

If we were to win a prize it would help us get the word out that we are still here in spite of the loss of funding and we appreciate any support that will allow us to continue our services.
Posted @ Monday, November 14, 2011 10:47 PM by Inge Tarantola
I would like to nominate Center Enterprise Inc. in Albany, OR. The Center has provided vocational training and support services for adults with Developmental Disabilities since 1975. I would like to nominate Tears of Joy Theatre. Tears of Joy is a local puppet theater that travels across the western United States bringing diverse, animated, cultural puppetry to children in rural schools. Tears of Joy travels to remote schools in places like Alaska and Idaho and Eastern Oregon- often giving children their first and often only exposure to live theater performances and arts experiences. The puppetry is of high quality, the shows are diverse and range from classics like Pinnochio to international folk tales like Anansi the Spider. Tears of Joy would benefit significantly from a van wrap. For more information please visit: www.tojt.org A van wrap would help promote Tears of Joy all over the West where they travel 8-9 months of the year.

I would like to nominate Center Enterprises, Inc. in Albany, OR. They do great work with adults with developmental disabilities and truly need some advertising help. They have traditionally operated in a vacuum serving the community behind the scenes so most people are not aware of CEI and the service they provide. The time has come for CEI to get their name out there and better utilize community resources.

I nominate Eugene Waldorf School. They strive to provide quality education for children that incorporates the mind, body and soul. The skills they learn include real-life tools that combine academics, art, music, the out of doors, wood working, language, and more. They have provided excellent schooling to thousands of children for generations.

Crossroads has a 3 day Home Stay for international students just arriving to OSU, a conversant program, a speaker series and an international film series, and does special events to convey culture to community members (such as cooking classes). I am nominating Center Enterprises of Albany, Oregon. They have been instrumental in helping adults with developmental disabilities in this area since 1981. Much of their support comes from the State of Oregon and it is being cut drastically due to statewide budget constraints. Due to these cutbacks we are trying to reach out to the community more to ask for support. We could really use the printed graphics in the form or event signage and informational displays to aid us in our efforts.

Leslie, who runs the facility is the most selfless caring individual I have met. I offered to give her a complementary hair cut and color, but she refused because she did not want to take that hour and a half away from the dogs. Over 100 people work at AT with over 60 adults that receive services - everything from assisting with grocery shopping, planning for travel, or organizing activities around town. Part of AT's mission is community involvement, thus this company would benefit immensely from enhanced visibility in their community (what you do!). Their website:www.alvordtaylor.org.

Suggestions from the Corvallis area would be the Monroe Public Library project-- a huge volunteer effort with some very competent volunteers in the rural town of monroe to build a new library, they just raised the money and it is going to begin building this year sometime (possibly a bookmobile or other vehicle?). monroelibraryor.blogspot.com/
The Jackson Street Youth Shelter (teen shelter in downtown) is a great cause, and the Whiteside Theater project-a group trying to revive the historic theater downtown as a performing arts/music venue and just opening its doors(you'd need to check if a non profit but I think so) they have been strapped trying to make it happen in a down economy, but its a really good effort and they probably are just at the stage where publicity, etc is very timely.

I want to nominate Pearl Buck Center because of all the wonderful, life enriching experiences I have witnessed in the three years I have worked here. I am a mother of a disabled child and I have seen, first hand, how people with disabilities can be treated with disrespect and disregard. That will NEVER happen at PBC. ALL people are acknowledged for who they are not what challenges life has thrown at them and our mission is to lift up not tear down.

I would like to nominate the Lane County Master Gardener's Association. This group of over 200 volunteers is devoted to educating the public on plants, gardens, orchards, insects and pesticides. They are entirely self-funded, maintain a help hotline, and teach many courses around the county.

Due to the failure of a County tax initiative, they have been forced to move offices and change phone numbers. Many county residents no longer know they exist. They need help in letting County residents know their free services are still available.

Their website iswww.pesticide.org and has been recently revamped. Their other materials (brochures, pesticide factsheets, etc.) have not been updated in a long time, so I know they would benefit from info displays and other graphic outreach tools.

I would like to nominate the Friends of Buford ark and Mt. Pisgah.
They do the nitty-gritty work it takes to keep Mt. Pisgah healthy, safe, fun, and beautiful. They focus their work on the stuff most of us ignore; invasive grasses, native plants, pond-turtles, etc. And it's precisely those things that make the park shine.
I think they would greatly benefit from the event-signage and banners. It seems they haven't had much time to focus on that stuff (probably because they're out in the field!)

I would like to nominate Cascade Arts in Oakridge and Westfir Oregon. Cascade Arts has been together for almost one year. We are working on our nonprofit status and hope to umbrella under the Upper Willamette Developement Corp.

Last May we produced an art show with over 50 local artists. At the same time we had over 100 students participating in the show from both the local high school and middle school.

We are producing our first art walk on December 2nd in conjunction with the Oakridge Tree Lighting holiday.

In the future we hope to offer classes for artists and be a place for both businesses and artists to build community. This is what we're about: working with artists and building community.

I hope you choose Cascade Arts because as a fledgling group in this economy in 2 small towns in Oregon money has been hard to come by.

We believe in our artists...over 1500 people in both communities claim to some art or craft background. As an art entity, Cascade Art believes "Where art grows, money flows!:

I nominate Friends of Buford Park and Mt. Pisgah. This is the group that maintains wildlife habitat and compatible recreation on and near Mt. Pisgah. Judging by how many people (and how much wildlife!) use the area daily, it is a well needed service. They would benefit greatly from a banner and informational displays.

I would like to second the nomination of Tears Of Joy Puppet Theatre, based in Portland, Oregon. They take their high quality productions to many culturally underserved regions, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. Kids who would otherwise not have any opportunity to see live theater receive a huge benefit from these productions. Their operation would benefit by increased advertising and graphics to increase their visibility. They are a very worthwhile and deserving organization providing an important cultural service.

Head Start of Lane County serves low income children and families birth to age 5. Head Start uses a whole family approach to getting preschooler ready for kindergarten. They are in many family related events to promote early childhood education and school readiness. Imagine graphics would be great as they could use a bilingual banner for community events and parades. The banner could be displayed on the blue school float or held by parade walkers.

I nominate Friends of Buford Park and Mt. Pisgah. They are a very hard working and dedicated bunch (staff and volunteers) who are dedicated to restoring the vanishing oak savanah/forests and promoting recreation in the Mt. Pisgah area. They operate on a shoestring given the scope of their projects. They could certainly use $300 worth of banners, etc to help spread the word about their events, tours, volunteer projects, etc.

Childhood Cancer Guides is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to serve the childhood cancer community by providing:

• Clear explanations of the various types of childhood cancer

• Descriptions of state-of-the-art treatments for childhood cancers

• Emotional support for every member of the family

• Access to helpful resources

We create, publish, and update books that help families of children with cancer and survivors of childhood cancer. The titles that we are trying to keep in print are:

Childhood Leukemia: A Guide for Families, Friends, and Caregivers (4th edition)

Childhood Brain & Spinal Cord Tumors: A Guide for Families, Friends, and Caregivers

Childhood Cancer: A Parent's Guide to Solid Tumor Cancers (2nd edition)

Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Practical Guide to Your Future (2nd edition)

In order to get more books to families of children with cancer, especially surivors, we have been attending national librarian meetings, hoping to sell our books at cost to libraries. We would benefit from having professional signage that would draw people to our booth, and allow us to have access to the people who buy books for libraries, and so to get information to childhood cancer survivors and their families.

We assist people with rent, utilities, prescriptions, birth certificates, identification, clothing, bus tokens, greyhound tickets, and case management. It is because I believe so strongly in this wonderful organization that I nominate Catholic Community for this generous benefit. Harambee Arts: Let's Pull Together TM partners with African grassroots programs to train local caregivers to provide art programs for vulnerable children in an environment that fosters their sense of joy, creativity and exuberance. Through its arts programs, Harambee Arts strives to promote the well-being of homeless, orphaned and other neglected children, enhance the stability of their families and support systems, and develop their sense of self-worth and positive personal ethics by creating opportunities for children to help other children.

Since 1952 CCSLC has diligently gone about the business of providing emergency and self sufficiency services to thousands of low-income and homeless Lane County residents annually. Recently CCSLC has experienced an unprecedented rise in request for services due to the recent economy. So when there are difficult budget decisions to make CCSLC always prioritizes client services. Never fear!!!!!! CCSLC has a very enthusiastic Coordinator who is dedicated to getting the word out about the great work CCSLC does. She would be thrilled to have the assistance and expertise of the talented Imagine Photographic team. I am certain the individuals served by CCS would also appreciate professional building signage, displays and professional printings. Thank you.

Posted @ Wednesday, November 30, 2011 5:09 PM by Brooke
CCS (Catholic Community Services of Lane County, Inc) can easily be compared to one of the many struggling families that come through our doors each day. As a parent it is so easy to get swamped taking care of your children and forget about your own needs; CCS has been doing this very thing for more than 60 years now. We're at a point now, especially with new, inspiring leadership, for some personal care. Unfortunately, resources are tight, and even more than usual. Our staff and volunteers are eager to raise community awareness about our basic needs services to low-income families in Lane County. A solid array of graphic elements such as those for community outreach events or photos of community members we've helped would go along way.

Thank you for your commitment to our area's nonprofits. Your Great Giveaway is awfully generous and thoughtful.

I nominate Birth To Three for its outstanding work and accomplishments since its inception 33 years ago. Countless families around the world have received information and support and created extended families for themselves so parents, their children's first and most important teachers, did not have to take on parenting, the most important and challenging job there is alone.

I nominate Catholic Community Services of Lane County, Inc. CCSLC provides a wide array of services - everything from household items, diapers and soap to assistance with rent, utility bills, prescriptions, showers, IDs, food and clothing - and everything in-between, to low-income families and individuals without consideration of race, religion or any other factor. Like many other agencies, CCS has taken a big hit in funding reductions while at the same time the number of people who need assistance increases. CCS staff are hard-working, caring and dedicated to providing the very best assistance to everyone who walks in the door. Even though CCS has been in the community since the early '50's, it's not widely known - they could use this award to become more visible in the community, which would benefit people seeking help.
